Breast feeding is a wonderful thing and is highly encouraged. There are some times however, that breast feeding needs to be aided by a tool. This tool is called the breast pump. In order to find the best breast pump for you, you will need to evaluate each one carefully.
A breast pump is necessary for reasons such as the following:
1. Going back to work: When a mother decides it is time to go back to work, she might still want the baby to benefit from her breast milk. This is common and one of the reasons why a breast pump was invented.
2. Another reason why a breast pump was created was for those times when the mother needs to rest. As you may be aware, a baby has a need to eat every two hours while they are newborns. This will last months. If a mother is breastfeeding, this means she will have to be breast feeding every two hours. For any woman, this can get extremely tiring.
Although these are not the only reasons why a breast pump is necessary, they are the most common of the bunch.
Choosing the Best Breast Pump
Choosing the best breast pump for you is a process. If you are looking to put your infant on a bottle with breast milk, it is good to introduce the bottle to them within the first three to four weeks. This will help them establish taking the nipple that is not their mothers. In all, this will help when you make the transition back to work or you are not around to feed from the breast. Whichever you feel is the best breast pump; make sure you have it well prepared for when you make the transition.
1. Hospital grade breast pumps: These are designed for breast feeding that is consistent. Mothers who use these will be those that immediately have to return to work or cannot breast fee their baby due to the baby not latching on properly, etc. A hospital breast pump comes with double collection styles. Many people feel these are the best breast pump.
2. Electric Pump (upper end): These are considered the best breast pump by some mothers who have returned to work full time because they are portable, lightweight and manageable. The mother feels it is more easily used than a hospital grade breast pump.
3. Electric/Battery pump (Mid-Grade): These require a bit more work and effort than the top end models, however, they work well. Most moms who use this type of electric pump use it for when their child goes to the babysitter or for times when they substitute for formula. These are often much more portable than the above two mentioned.
4.Manual Pump: This is the breast pump that has to be done by usually two hands. Some manual breast pumps are designed for one handed use and many regard this as the best breast pump. The reason why people like the manual breast pump rather than the electric is because it mimics the babies suction greatly.
