The one myth about Valentines Day that needs busting is that women don't buy Valentine gift for their significant other. There is absolutely no amount of truth to support this and all women crave blogs and articles alike in hopes that something will help them find romantic gifts for their boyfriend/ husband. Unfortunately this myth has taken over the internet and there are few articles that can guide women to help buy valentine gifts for men. There are some rules that apply to men and women alike when it comes to valentines gifts.
Rule One: Never ever in a million years give anything that suggests your boyfriend/husband needs improvement. Gifts are supposed make a person feel loved and cherished instead of demoralized. Just as a man should never buy cooking books or make-up for a woman, women should avoid gifting gym memberships or even clothes. When it comes to apparel, men just don't care as much as women do about clothes.
Rule Two: Personal preferences will always help you pick a real winner. Everyone loves knowing that there is a special someone out there who actually truly and profoundly understands them. While men are constantly advised to listen to what women are not saying, for women it's easier because men will quite plainly just tell you what they like and what they dislike. It will be as different and obvious as the Packers and The Bears. Women just need to know the difference, learning about it is not necessary. Stick a few Valentines roses inside a football shaped container at dinner or consider decorating the house in the colors of his favorite sports team and give him a break from all the pink and red. There is a whole world of sports memorabilia out there for the sports fan.
Rule Three: Indulgence is key. Just because your partner is watching his weight (men watch their weight almost as much as women) or because you're mother-in-law has been deploring about your husband's blood pressure doesn't mean that he can't enjoy something once in a while. On Valentines Day, turning the tables and buying some special food favorites for him is a good idea. Men are the world's biggest fan of food or try buying him chocolate gifts for a change.
The truth about gift buying is that isn't easy for either men or women and both look for easy options. Easy options for women like jewelry and valentines Flowers or Valentine chocolate gifts are more obvious but women struggle with choice in valentine gifts too. Three categories, tech, power tools or sports are the woman's easy way out. But Valentines gift should never really be about the obvious choice but about personal preference, indulgence and appreciation.
I own and run four successful gift stores and on Valentines Day it's a mad house. Women are utterly perplexed when it comes to buying valentines gifts and often make poor choice in romantic gifts for their partner. Admittedly most stores in a ten mile radius stock valentine chocolate gifts in general and don't offer the ladies much other than chocolate gifts. With little to choose from, women are probably going to end up buying valentine hearts and valentines flowers unless they're given some kind of broad guideline to go on. My article is such an attempt based on my experience with helping women.
